Cloisonné lapel pins are formed to a copper bronze surface and filled with a glasslike mixture. The pins are fired in a kiln to ensure the colors do not bleed. More color is added and the pins are fired a second time. These steps guarantee the colors do not bleed. The pins are finally hand polished to give a jewelry-like finish.
Cloisonné lapel pins are popular because of their hard durable finish. The colors are clearly separated by a fine gold or silver line to bring out bold colors and designs. Cloisonné lapel pins are excellent for recognition and promotional events.

The most popular lapel pins are photo etched pins. Photo etched lapel pins offer a similar look to the cloisonné but are less expensive. The photo etched process allows for more detailed designs and a wider spectrum of colors to choose from.
A computer etches your design onto a brass plate. The design is then filled with the colored enamels of your choice. The pin is fired in a kiln to ensure durability and high quality.

After being struck with the die, soft enamel lapel pins are filled with enamel paints. The pins are fired at low heat to seal the colors and provide a luster appearance.
